It's a very dangerous, low visibility crossing trying to cross N High from either side of Ashbridge. A traffic light would solve that. Safety should trump getting from here to there in 30 less seconds.
Of course it's dangerous. Your line of sight is terrible in both directions as you reach High St. from the golf club side, and cars come flying down the hill on High as they leave the borough. The traffic light would only trigger when vehicles approached High St on Ashbridge, with no other regular changes.
Please, don't be ridiculous. Try some patience, or just use the lighted intersection two blocks away at Marshall Street. This area is becoming the designated speeder shortcut, so I'm thinking you are more concerned about making your cutthrough easier than about safety!
The thing is that there is very limited line of sight for cars on Ashbridge. Add to that the modern drivers reaction to seeing someone trying to enter a roadway- they speed up to stop you!- and the result is a dangerous intersection. My solution would be a blinking light that only operated as a traditional red light during AM & PM rush hours, and then ONLY when cars approached it on Ashbridge.
The problem at Marshall St/High St is that you often sit through multiple light changes trying to cross because of cars attempting to make left turns onto High St.
Totally agree. It's the peope who don't know how to drive who make this intersection dangerous. Please do us all a favor and drive another block up to make your turn.
Although it may seem as if a traffic light there would be unnecessary, that intersection is very dangerous especially for pedestrians. Something needs to be erected there.
