Any chance that a few neighbors could get together and cut these back? I'm sure Mr Capasso would help out if he saw others clearing the sidewalk on their own.

The neighbors would do it, but what happens the next time and the next time after that? Is it their responsibility to clean up his sidewalk when they have their own properties to tend to. It would be nice to believe the owner would participate if others cleaned his sidewalk, but based on the company's history with disregard for maintenance and zoning regulations, it seems more than doubtful. All property owners need to take care of their own property - plain and simple.

My best example of this working is the Mobile gas station on State. We planted roses on their property and cleaned the sidewalks in front and with a little pressure from the neighborhood they went from being the biggest litterer of the street to nearly no litter at all. This has lasted for almost 1 year!

Ben, that is so awesome. Thanks for the suggestion and willingness to help pitch in. G.L Capasso brought a lawsuit against the neighbors to try and stop them from reporting their illegal early morning operations and ongoing zoning violations. I would think he would be the very last person to lift a finger to help the neighbors clean up even his own property. In this case, I would think the best option would be for Mr. Capasso to take care of his own property. They are more than resourced to be a responsible property owner. I'm saving my 'do-gooderies" for people that could use a hand.

I'm sorry to hear that. The Mobil station had never helped out previously either and has to date never helped pay the cleaning service we have on Upper State but pitching in ourselves was what motivated them in the end. In principle it felt wrong to be helping someone who wouldn't help us but the end result was what we were looking for anyways.

You should know that this stuff does not go unnoticed. I was on a public board making a decision about the purchase of the Lovell School building and GL Capasso's maintenance of his own property as determined by comments and photos reflected here contributed to my vote for another developer.
