We need a stoplight at the intersection of Irby and Salem. You can wait upwards of 15 minutes to turn onto Salem from Irby during rush hour. And it's even worse after a train has just come through.
The train problem has been fixed with the Salem Rd bridge that opened a couple months ago, but the traffic is still very heavy along Salem. The intersections at both Irby and Meadowlake should be converted into traffic circles. Frankly, I was surprised that this didn't happen as part of the bridge project.
It's very dangerous making a left or right turn off Meadowlake Road onto Salem Road due to heavy traffic speeding down the overpass hill. This intersection is a major wreck waiting to happen. A stop light or roundabout should be placed here since both arterial roads have high traffic volume throughout the day.
Drivers continue to speed down the overpass hill on Salem Road and hardly ever use their signal when making a right turn onto Meadowlake Road (police should be here and ticket the violators). As stated previously, a stop light or roundabout should be placed at the intersection of Salem and Meadowlake Roads. Traffic on Salem is speeding both ways, and if you make a left turn from Meadowlake onto Salem, you are going uphill and speeding cars will get right on your rear bumper and continuously honk among other things. Again, a major wreck waiting to happen.
