The City of New Haven recently has added a bike path that connects to the sidewalk on Kimberly Ave bridge. This issue requests that City of West Haven provide a similar path or protected bike lane when entering or leaving West Haven. One option is to widen the sidewalk and make one half dedicated to bicycles. With the development of the new water front mall it would be exciting for us bike bound New Haveners to be able to get right to the water front and the mall. We love you West Haven, love us back!
-Sincerely Your Neighbors to the North East.
(PS, I bet a lot of your residents who commute to work in NHV by bike every day would also love you.) Vote it up if you want it fixed!

From Bridgeport to Guilford and beyond, this is the most dangerous section of roadway around. It is actually rare for me, my children, or my wife to cross this without someone literally trying to run me off the road.
Tire catching grates, no shoulder, 4 lanes for no reason, I-95 entrance. All very dangerous. Please address this in the design of the roadway and lighting there.
This is a major link on the ECG. Since bicycling on sidewalks is illegal in New Haven, why is the bike lane to the east on the bridge lines with the sidewalk???

Actually, the problem is that the path to the Kimberly Ave bridge is the East Coast Greenway which the city of West Haven hasn't extended eastward from the beach yet, and is putting the 'mall' right over it's path.
I support West Haven's desire to revitalize an under utilized business area, but In effect the public land was sold to private interest. The East Coast Greenway is by far beyond the scope of a local municipality to have the right to obstruct.
The mall plans need to be suspended until the lueprints includes public waterfront access and a safe pedestrian/cycling path per the obligation to the ECG. I've been waiting patiently for infrastructure funding to finish this project for a safe place to help our nations veterans recover through cycling. Now we're getting pushed out because capitalist can't take time to add a couple public access features we were already promised.
