The city of san rafael removed a tree appox two years ago in this location. Since that time, the public road has cracked and broken apart even more, causing a block to the flow of stormwater. The roadway damage and ongoing cracking is also destroying the sidewalk, which is now crumbling. This is happening in two locations on this section of the road. (I can only upload one picture) but on the other side of the driveway, the city of san rafael came out two years ago and also repaired the sidewalk with new tar/gravel. That section has now lifted up and cracked and a 3 foot portion of the sidewalk curb is now falling into the road. This road way abutting the sidewalk on this section is also lifted, cracked and causing more damage. There is also a section in the public roadway that is cracked open and has water spurting up and out of it. An inspector from Marin Municipal Water arrived today 2/23 to inspect this and determined this is not drinking water but rainwater and due to the cracks in the roadway, rainwater is flowing under the road and then being expelled from the cracks further down (the water is flowing toward the curb/ my home.) he suggested a storm drain or gutter might help. Repairing the public road is also necessary to flatten out the road and allow the stormwater to flow and rain properly. Right now there are large puddles of standing water that cannot drain b/c of the cracks in the roadway.
