Here is the image folder, you can see when they were taken and descriptions of the photos:
This dumpster is located in-between properties at 1504 and 1510 Michigan Avenue. It has been seen at this location directly behind the CATA bus stop for at least the last 6 months before starting to document it, where I have often seen a man emptying a hauling trailer contents into it. The garbage goes everywhere, he is careless and it is disgusting. Garbage and appliances are often on the side, around, and behind the dumpster.
It appears to be nothing but a trash hauling operation located on Michigan Avenue. These are pictures taken from the CATA bus stop directly in front of it, and the same view you will see from the street. Found on Google Maps, an image before the CATA bus station was moved from the front of the Heart Center with the dumpster located in the pictures: http://goo.gl/maps/TCCXR
Since there is no drive located where the garbage dump is located, the truck must drive over the curb to empty the dumpster. It is destroying the sidewalk. Is the owner going to pay to repave the sidewalk he is destroying, or the taxpayers?
The CATA bus stop was moved in 2012, so this has been going on for almost three years at least, probably longer. A garbage dump leading up to the capitol of Michigan is probably not the best image for Lansing to be putting forth. Reported to city council member through email on 7/15/13. Premise inspector sent out afternoon of 7/17/13. That is the last I have heard. New pictures added since.
I think it's time this is removed from the street leading up to our capital.

Thinking about this more, the dumpster is in the front yard because of the configuration of the lot.

This must be dealt with. Please have someone take care of this immediately. Also, let me know when it has been dealt with so that I can take it out of my follow-up items.
If you are not the appropriate person, please let me know who is. This neighborhood has tolerated this for far too long."
Thank you everyone working on this.

I don't know the schedule. I have only run across the trash pickup once long ago. I have no idea when they come to do so.

Where a sidewalk and a parking lot are adjacent to or in close proximity to each other, a barrier and other safety markings approved by the Director of Public Service shall be erected. The barrier shall be such that vehicles are prevented from driving across the sidewalk or from overhanging it when parked. Where such barriers are deemed appropriate, the Director may, after notifying the property owner to erect such barriers, and if such barriers are not erected within ten days of such notice, cause such barriers to be erected and assess the cost to the property owner and, if not paid, against the land upon which the parking lot is situated.

Robert, I have no idea if I am the cause of this. All I did was read the city ordinances, inform via this page, send some emails to Joan Nelson (Allen N.C.), Jody Washington (City Council) and maybe someone else. I sent the emails twice to each of the above because I hadn't heard from them (except dear Joan who did copy me on HER email to Jody).
I noticed it was gone on Sunday but didn't dare to dream....but if you say it now, maybe it is truly gone.
Of course, it was also in violation of the city ordinance, but nothing to say that they can't make it a formal parking lot and put in some posts like they have at Lugnuts stadium and do the same thing..... True, no curb cut to Michigan Ave at present..., and it is kind of close to the traffic light so maybe the city wouldn't allow it. Still, after 2 years, someone from code compliance should have thought what we did and known the rules enough to work with us... Unless they really are trying to promote business at the expense of neighborhoods and true development (nah...)
I wonder if there is a similar forum for zoning variances/waivers because, since this is technically a FRONT yard, they would probably have to apply for a variance... Any thoughts?
