Really seems like our tax dollars do not lead to results. This sort of thing is obviously not okay and yet it is typical in this town.

This is a typical situation in most cities run by Demo.crat lib.erals. These lib.eral demo.crats have an overwhelming tendency to ignore infrastructure, to allow cities to deteriorate into horrible conditions (for example, Oakland, Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, etc), they tend to ignore laws and refuse to enforce them, actively limited the local police in doing their jobs and actually intentionally hiring law enforcement officers who are reluctant to enforce laws (as is the current situation with APD), etc. You can do your research and see this trend in just about every medium to large sized city under Demo.crat control (and interestingly, almost no Rep.ublican majority cities have these problems to anywhere near this degree) It's time to wake up and smell the coffee folks. What's the common denominator? Do you want to see Alameda turn into just another Oakland? Time is running out, the longer we let these dems control our communites, the closer the total collapse of our cities becomes.

Alameda Public Works is in the process of following the Alameda Municipal Code requirements for abating newsrack nuisance violations. This includes giving the newsrack vendor the legally-required notice to repair or potentially remove/consolidate the newsrack. In the first phase of noticing, all responsible parties have been notified that the newsracks are in violation because they are not being maintained to code standards. Staff is preparing for the next (and final) phase of noticing laying the ground work for seizure (and possible repair) of the newsracks. After this final phase concludes, staff will work with both business districts to evaluate whether to completely remove, consolidate, or relocate the newsracks. While this process is pending, trash and graffiti will be removed by the district contractor.
