Deskripsyon
There is an illegal homeless camp at this location dumping trash and contaminating with human waste. This has gone on for over two months. They are not allowed to be here. The fourth precinct refuses to remove them even though it is their job to address issues with the Land Bank. This lot is owned by the Land Bank and there are confirmation emails stating they are not allowed to be on this property. The entire block is mad that the city will do nothing. This needs to be handled IMMEDIATELY!! This is not the first request from our street. They are using and selling drugs (have this on video and photos) and exposing themselves mid day breaking the law of public decency and sexual misconduct as underage children live in the majority of the houses. If this is not taken care of the neighborhood has decided it will take action in other ways. This is not the Detroit I want to live in. PLEASE DO YOUR JOBS!

The problem comes from the liquor store.

Someone wrote: “Since the Mayors office has point blank stated- they will not do anything about the homeless issue, the city is not the one responding on this feed. “
Please tell us how/ when the Mayor/his office said they will do anything about this issue.
If homeless camps along Michigan Ave are officially endorsed then all this outcry is useless.
FYI about the party store: a complaint to the liquor control commission that minors are being sold liquor will bring in secret and unannounced inspections. That should reveal drug sales as well.
The LCC shut down Vienna Market on Junction and Toledo for selling to minors and permanently removed the liquor license from the owners.

This area has stopped calling 911 and reporting issues and resigned to “this is how it is” and that’s not acceptable.
Change is needed and if we get loud and put pressure on the laws being enforced so we do not have to live in a trash and drug infested land- then all of this is necessary.
It is a persons choice to make outcries and be loud.
We will NOT stand for Detroit ignoring this area any longer. Period.

“City of Detroit” - They’re are homeless / un housed and addicts. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Real City of Detroit: More people are on the lot as of yesterday.

Maybe you can find out why nothing is being done.
If the City wants to turn a blind eye-then you can turn to the Neighborhood Services organization to see if they will intervene. I think the NSO is a private non-profit

So to clarify- there are a large group of us that have contacted everyone that has been suggested. This is also the way to do things as well. We do have lawyers. We are aware of the laws and go about things the way they need to.

Okay -I don’t live on Cicotte, but as a concerned citizen I did independantly report this encampment as a squatters issue (using the Michigan Ave. side address and also the poor guy living in a tent on the sidewalk on Michigan Av and Livernois. I used the squatter report -and no one has acknowledged the report for weeks. So u know that no agency is reading the squatters requests.
For the long-overflowing trash bin on the Michigan Ave. side I used the curbside solid waste request. It is still not emptied weeks later. But that one was at least acknowledged -and closed!
It also looks like no one in City government is reading this thread -or it is being ignored purposely.
You are not the only people concerned and, having lived in this neighborhood some 70 years and having been employed by the City -I think I can make some suggestions. Good for you if you are sure you are the only experts.
