Deskripsyon

In front of my home is approx. 24 feet of severely cracked and broken cement sidewalk. It is the only bit of sidewalk on Painter Drive and is cracked due to the large and dying elm tree which is breaking up the cement. The tree is also cracking the curb and the pavement in the street. I have observed people trip over the cracks and serveral guests to my home have tripped and fallen due to this unsightly broken cement area.

I believe the property owner is responsible to maintain and repair the sidewalk in front of the home because if someone gets injured that's who can be sued. But very likely the city can be contacted to cut down the tree if it is at the curb. Especially if it is diseased and dying.

Dear Guest, This is city owned sidewalk. The concrete is stamped "City of West Haven" and they should be responsible for it. I am responsible for the upkeep of the paved walk leading to my door, but not the city sidewalk. The city has already sent out a representative to look at the problem, and he agrees that the tree is causing the damage.

Here it is, about a year later, and nothing has been done to FIX this issue. The cracks and broken pieces of cement are worse

Almost 900 days after reported, the sidewalk is MUCH worse. I don't think posting such hazards on this page helps one bit.

hard to figure out how work is prioritizied -- they have money to groom the beach, a frivolous endeavor with absolutely no impact on public safety, and to erect lighting around yet one more ball field in Morse Park (just completed), but dangerous sidewalks languish for years.
