Farmington Public Works

I live in a neighborhood that has very little lighting. We've had police disturbances and have a registered sex offender living very close by. I fear for the children who like to play outside at night because of the lack of lighting that could protect them from cars, unknown people, etc. We contacted the City of Farmington and were told "the city doesn't do that anymore" and to call for an electrician, and purchase one ourselves. We pay enough in taxes, when did the state start this practice??
