Cherster County Council: Edgemoor

This is another road that has had large sections repaired with gravel. This road has a "loose gravel" sign. Please help!

I live on Hicklin Bridge Rd. in Chester County and the road has been in bad shape for several years. After the ice this winter several of the potholes that had been patched over and over again repeatedly in the past became a serious problem when the asphalt broke up in large pieces and the road started to crumble in places. About two weeks went by and the potholes were filled with gravel. I initially thought this must be a temporary solution but it is now April and I noticed several streets surrounding me have also had the gravel patches added. The SCDOT has even added road signs in places that say "rough road" or "loose gravel" to warn you of the dangerous road conditions. I have talked to several people that work for the SCDOT and the response I get is that the state doesn't have the money to pave the roads. There are several roads nearby, some that were in better shape, that have been repaved completely recently so I don't understand this argument. Please help. We are concerned about the long-term effects the deteriorating road system will have on our property value. I have several more pictures of other roads that are worse than mine, Jordan Road and Starnes Road, that are in my area.

The SCDOT has repaired several sections of this road with gravel (as I mentioned in my report on Hicklin Bridge Rd). I have attached a picture of one of the worse areas. This road has the "rough road" sign.
