Deskripsyon

We have an issue with being able to see on coming traffic when exiting our driveway. Our building is on a busy four lane road and at times it becoming challenging and dangerous to exit our driveway. We would like to see if we can install a mirror to allow drivers to see oncoming traffic.

As per Section 2903 of the New York City Charter, the Department of Transportation does not permit the attachment of any materials to City-owned electrical equipment, including but not limited to, street light poles and poles containing electrical traffic control devices. You are permitted to install a mirror within the borders of your private property. You can also request the removal of a street parking spot to improve visibility by filing a request with the Brooklyn Department of Transportation at https://www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/contact/contact.shtml

Can we attach a mirror to a tree that is in front of our neighbors house?

Taking out parking spots won't help but only make it worse for our residents. We already have trouble with parking because of the restaurant next door.

Residents can do what they wish with the trees growing on their private property. If your neighbor gives you permission to attach a mirror to a tree that they own, located within their property lines, that is acceptable. All trees growing along the planted strip between the street and sidewalk are City property and residents are not permitted to attach items or do any other work on these City-owned trees.
