My son and other young people in New Haven go to Gateway community College and some of them walk home at night. Some of them have to walk to work because they don't have a vehicle. I tell my son to take the bus or to call me for a ride if I am not working (I don't want him walking the streets of New Haven)He said to me that sometimes him and his friends like to walk if the weather is good. My issue is, why the city let the tree branches get so big that we can't see the street lights. I would like for the next mayor of the city to walk by themselves thru Howard ave, Truman st. Arch st and many other streets in New Haven that are so dark at night that it is scare. The city is responsible for the safety of their citizens. That is why we pay so high taxes. Is good to plant trees in the city. But, the city also have to remember to keep them trim. That would also make the police departments job easier.

Hello Neighbor - I live in the Truman Street/King Place area - I will support your efforts for better lighting in our neighborhood. Between our calls, and response from Public Works, LCI and our Alderwoman Andrea Jackson Brooks - hopefully we can get some lights fixed, increased wattage and tree limbs cut back.

Thank you for your support. Now we have to see if we can get this politics out of there comfort zone and make them earned our high taxes that we pay the city. We don't work for them. They work for us the tax payers.

We are upgrading the entire City to new LED street lights which are brighter and more reliable over the next year.

It is good that the city is going LED. I'll also recommend that they trimmed the tree branches so the lights can do there job. Light up the streets.

I would like to open this issue again because nothing was done the first time. Summer is here and the drug dealers are moving to the corner of west st and frank st again. When it gets dark the elements come out and the streets are not safe. We have sons and daughters that have to walk the streets to get to school.

Practically no street lights working on College St., between Chapel & Crown St's. There are about 11 of these shorter lamp posts each having 4 lamps. Of the 11 poles, 9 are completely out and have been for well over 2 months. This issue has been reported a couple of times, and yet nothing is done. If you can't get a whole block of street lights working in the heart of the so called entertainment district (Shubert Theater) where can you??

We are delineating Street Lamp issues that are current and need the city's attention to resolve. Any issues prior to Dec 31, 2015 are being closed. If your Street Lamp issue still needs to be addressed, please create a new issue by selecting the Street Lamp service request in SeeClickFix. Providing a pole number and/or a more precise location is important. Once your issue is submitted, the Transportation, Traffic and Parking Department will acknowledge the issue and create a maintenance/repair work order.
