I sometimes sit and wait for over 5 minutes here waiting for the crossing guards to let every single little thing pass! Horses I don't mind when they stop us when they are about to cross but they will be 100- 200 feet away and keep traffic waiting! Please fix this! Also, a controlled traffic signal would be nice too so we don't have to endanger crossing guards in the middle of the street.

Sorry folks this is Saratoga for a few months out of the year and it's all about safety. Chose alternate route if too much of a hassle.

Horses have priority in this town - our claim to fame. Leave 5 minutes earlier or use the side streets.

I agree with everyone, except for one point. I do happen to agree, they guards do wait an inordinate amout of time while cares could be let through. I myself choose a different route but when i dont a 10 minute wait is not out of the ordinary. This can definitly lead to some animosity.

just wondering what laws / ordinance allow these crossing guards to stop traffic for employees & horses to cross?

How about building a tunnel under the highway for the horses, since this is several months out of the year and it is every year. Make it safer for everyone

NYRA's operation in Saratoga are not year round therefore a tunnel is not financially feasible. The horse are worth more than most people's cars so they are priority and if you have a problem with NYRA security allowing horse crossings contact the new CEO of NYRA and tell him. Whining to the city or SeeClickFix is not the solution for this issue.
