Deskripsyon

The sound of diesel trucks using their jake brakes when they come down Whalley Ave into Westville Village is jarring and disrupts the quality of life for the village area. Many towns prohibit the use of jake breaks except in emergencies. Does New Haven have any such restrictions?

Also true at Bouievard and Whalley — not even a Hill Prohibit use of these brakes in the city.

This has continued to be an issue all spring and summer. Now that chilly weather will chase us back inside, it won’t be so disturbing, but it’s a simple issue to address: No jake brakes within City limits.

Connecticut has failed miserable with regard to the use of unmuffled engine brakes. Laws exist but there is no enforcement

This is still an issue here and in other locations in the city. The use of ‘jake’ brakes should be banned within city limits. Many other cities and towns have done so elsewhere.
