No traffic light is needed. There really isn't that much traffic after the peak commute times in the morning & afternoon where someone can't cross the road safely. As far as the brick marker being plowed down, that wasn't even during a peak time & if I recall, the drivers were under the influence. Since it is so easy to catch speeders, I would expect to see stepped up law enforcement. We could use the extra revenue & it would serve as a reminder to motorists to keep to the speed limit.

A light here would be ridiculous, as only during rush hours is traffic on Ushers busy enough to make entry from Wood Dale an annoyance.. Admittedly, once in a while one has to wait a turn to get onto Ushers in the morn, but that occasional wait sure beats having to wait all the time, which is what would happen if there were a light at the intersection. We'd find ourselves siting on WD when there was no or light traffic on Ushers! As I recall the brick Country Knolls sign was a result of a late night/early am driver who likely was under some influence. A stop sign on Wood Dale would be a waste of money, as it is a T intersection and anyone coming out of Wood Dale KNOWS one has to stop.
Leave the intersection alone, except for the repaving that's needed at the corner.

I would like to agree with the 3 previous posts that a traffic signal is probably not warranted in this location. In order to be justified a traffic signal must meet "warrants" listed in the National MUTCD and or the NYS Supplement to it. If you're really interested yo can review them here:

I wasn't sure of current prices for installations so I checked with several signal professionals and they confirm that a simple traffic signal installation for a location such as this would be in the range of $100,000 to $120,000 for an installation under contract, not including the design and the long term maintenance of the signal.

I am sympathetic to your concerns. I live in Country Knolls South (36 years) and at certain times of the day it is difficult to make a left onto Plank Rd.

If you are concerned about pedestrians crossing Ushers Rd at this location and since it does not appear to have crosswalks I suggest that you contact the Town Highway Superintendent or the Town Supervisor via the Town Website.
