Deskripsyon

This is the most dangerous place on Woodmont between 100 Oaks and Green Hills. It is truly a high traffic street, particularly with the addition of the Vanderbilt clinic at 100 oaks mall. The only lights we have to slow down the traffic are on Powell, and then the next one is at Lealand. The speed limit is 25, but i've witnessed people consistently going over 50 coming over the top of the hill. In the Pleasant Valley neighborhood you have 4 streets. They are Pleasant Valley, Springbrook, Westhaven and Crestridge. There are 86 houses in this neighborhood. Obviously it is just a matter of time until there is a serious accident. Having a four way light like the one at Lealand would allow for safer traffic patterns and left turns out of the neighborhood.

As a resident of the neighborhood for 5 years, I can attest to the fact that the issue has gotten worse, not better at both intersections (Crestridge/Woodmont & Springbrook/Woodmont). With the addition of Vanderbilt Health at 100 Oaks, travel has increased thereby increasing the danger with more cars added to the mix. I have narrowly avoided several accidents by simply turning left out of the neighborhood. I would go a step further and ask exclusively for a red-light as I think a caution light would do very little to slow traffic. This is a neighborhood with many small children. Having a young child myself, I find it doubly frightening knowing my child is in the car as I take the perilous turn onto Woodmont. Please explore the dangers of this intersection before there is a tragic, deadly accident. Thank you.

I have witnessed at least two serious wrecks at this intersection in the short time we've lived on crestridge. Turning off of Crestridge onto Woodmont can often be risky with the high volume of traffic and individuals exceeding the speed limit by a significant amount. Now due to Vanderbilt Medical at 100 Oaks this problem will only continue to get worse. I firmly believe a traffic light is needed at this intersection before more accidents occur.

Nothing has been done to address this problem. Metro's traffic study was inadequate.

Now that a Walmart is going in at the corner of Powell Ave. and Thompson Lane, the volume of traffic on Woodmont will substantially increase.

Something needs to be done. If not a traffic light, we must have a flashing yellow light warning of the 25 mph zone.

Everyone ignores the 25-mph signs all the time.

The volume of traffic on Woodmont Blvd seems to increase year over year. Wal-Mart has announced that they are opening up across from 100 Oaks which will greatly increase the volume even more. Due to the increased traffic and the geography of this particular intersection, this intersection is indeed a very potentially dangerous intersection.

As was the case months ago, I'm in full agreement with the need for a light...perhaps more-so now with the addition of Wal-Mart announcing a location at 100 Oaks. Ignoring the issue until there is a serious accident/death opens the city to increased liability with the issue being known/acknowledged at this point. We are only campaigning for a safer area...I think that isn't too much to ask.

Please put a stoplight at this intersection. It is impossible to turn left out of Springbrook Drive onto Woodmont Boulevard, and Crestridge was the only alternative, which has now become just as dangerous with the increased traffic at 100 Oaks. I can only imagine how much worse it will be once Walmart moves in.

There is an existing "Cross Road" sign with a 25 mph advisory speed plate posted on Woodmont Bv. (WB) in advance of Crestridge Dr. for the sight distance restrictions caused by the crest of a hill. A search of the accident history (11-1-06/11-30-09) indicates that the intersection has a good safety record. The traffic volumes on the minor street, Crestridge Dr., is very low & does not meet the minimum 8-hour requirements to install a traffic signal at the intersection. Therefore, we do not recommend a traffic signal at Crestridge Dr./Woodmont Bv. at this time. An e-mail will be sent to Cmdr. Michelle Richter, Metro Police, for speed limit enforcement at the intersection.
