Most likely nothing is ev er going to get done about most of our complaints. It seems the powers to be are waiting for the worst and then fix the problem. It will be interesting what the people running for Mayor & Council are going to say they are going to do & then not do it once they get in!!!
I noticed this conversation thread, and I just wanted to share our perspective on whether issues on SeeClickFix are actually handled. Since our site has gone live, almost 60% of the issues reported have been fixed. We're always trying to improve upon this, but that is not a bad start, and it is definitely an improvement upon the existing 311 systems that are used by most localities.
The areas that have had the most success in getting issues addressed tend to have the widest user base. High activity on the site signals to the government that they need to take the concerns of citizens expressed on SeeClickFix seriously. To accomplish this, you may consider sharing the issues you've reported with your networks via facebook or email, which can attract more attention to them.
SeeClickFix has a lot of potential, and is being used to great effect by citizens in governments in a variety of settings. While I understand the skepticism that some of you are expressing about its efficacy, I think that there is good reason to believe it can be a valuable tool for your community as well.

Hate to be the glass half empty guy but when it comes right down to it, this is just s forum for getting opions (and rants) out. If someone happens to be watching this that has some influence, then there may be something done about a particular issue but in the end, it really is just a forum like any other on the net. Mr. H. and others who have said it are correct; if you want results on an issue you really need to talk to the people who can do something about it such as the City, police, bylaw officers, etc.
Fair question. We have seen some instances of municipalities closing SeeClickFix issues prematurely, before they can accurately be described as 'fixed.' With that said, there does not seem to be any indication that massive amounts of SeeClickFix issues have been randomly closed with absolutely no progress made towards resolution.
As a third party platform, it's not feasible for us to check every closed issue to ensure that it has been adequately addressed. However, the balance of evidence does suggest that SeeClickFix is being used constructively by citizens and local governments to address community concerns.
Again, thank you for your interest in improving your community, and in SeeClickFix.
60%? I don't doubt your word Mr. Donohue but with the depth and breadth of some of these issues, 60 percent have actually been resolved? I find that a little hard to believe and would question how you arrive at that figure.
It's just the number of issues that have been closed divided by the total number of issues that have been reported. There have been tens of thousands of issues reported, so there is a pretty substantial sample size to back up the validity of that number.
Closed and fixed are two differant things. I have closed out issues I reported when it was obvious that they were not going to get fixed and I was receiving notices asking me to close them.
