Are you for real? The reason people coast through this is because although there is a stop sign, there is never ANY traffic coming from the west. And nobody drives straight through that intersection. Until 36th is a straight through road, people will continue to coast through. The police have better things to do than sit and watch an already safe intersection.

@yso Since when is no traffic a reason to NOT stop at a stop sign? It's not a judgement call, it's a LAW.
You are the exact type of person that this is directed at, and the same type I expect to see being given HUGE fines to for doing what you just said. You just @#$% because now you feel that the next time you blow that stop sign you could get caught. WELL next time you blow that stop sign there could be someone crossing the street.

Maybe the reason some people can't comment on this is that they were killed at some intersection or other they didn't stop for - such as the driver of the van in which 11 people died in Ontario.

This is probably another one that is going to be argued to death! And I would assume it's because most people are guilty of doing it (rolling stops). My question is, how do they decide which are stops and which are yields? Driving North on some of the streets in Midtown one intersection will have a stop and the next one will have a yield.
I agree though that the intersection in question here could be a yield at this point until the developing is done, nobody stops anyway....or very few anyway!

My opinion is the reason so many people blow that stop sign is more habbit then actual driving laws. For how many years there was no stop sign, or yeild sign or road connected to that area and so it was just normal to turn and not have to stop the sign is still newer then other intersections in the city. Its just like the light by St. Johns on 15th Ave East. It will take time for everyone to remember it is there and start following it. As for calling the cops I do feel that was an over reaction, I agree that there maybe a predistrian or a vehicle there but the police do have other things to be doing then parking a car there and watching it. Give it time.

It's been there for over a year...how long do people need? The people who blow this sign, are those who go thru that intersection daily...to MCd's or where ever...
