Deskripsyon

The restaurants that use the dumpsters on 11th Street between Washington and Ellsworth - across from the 7-11 - leave the doors to the dumpsters open, and allow trash water and/or cleaning supplies to just drain into the street drain. It's gross, smelly and also dangerously slippery on the sidewalk.

Ew- yeah I have to agree- this looks terrible- why are they permitted to use this mixed RESIDENTIAL street frontage (look diagonally across the street and south to see the hosues) as the dump for this fetid mess. They never power hose anything and it's really inappropriate to have this disgusting situation facing a MAJOR street. This really ruins the experience along 11th street and can be seen from WASHington Avenue too - nice "gateway" at this important & very busy intersection. Why don't they put it on the inside of the complex? I guess the experience inside the parking lot is much more important for the few patrons that venture there than it is for the thousand or so people who pass by the "dump-hole" on 11th St in the course of a day. This is a major transit route out of South Phllly, and people who stop at the light see (and smell in warmer weather) this mess as they wait for the light to change .
This is INAPPROPRIATE- Dicicco's gone so lets clean this up for the good of the many rather than the usual way these things work- bending over backwards for the ease /comfort/benefit of the developer. (Also the situation in the parking lot where cars use the sidewalk along Washington Avenue as a travel lane for the northern perimeter should be addressed as well.)

Just no pride in there business or the neighthood. where are the inspectors, where are fines. why do we keep seeing the same comments,of illegal dumping, business without dumpsters,where is the city in these matters,they want us to shell out more tax dollars. people are investing more into there homes, and what does the city do ,cut cut cut

Great point about this section of the neighborhood as a "gateway" to Passyunk Square. The block of 12th between Washington and Ellsworth is completely uncared for by the property owners on both sides of the street - 12th being a southern route for one of the major bus routes through the neighborhood. And that piece of 11th is a total psychological barrier for any pedestrian who would want to stroll down toward Devil's Den, Kris's and around to E. Passyunk Ave. It's basically screaming out... go another way. I hope if some infrastructure money/plans come along they go to completely remaking - especially from Washington to Ellsworth - as a more pedestrian friendly boulevard south rather than the desolate drag strip that it is. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. Let's get some more votes!
