Any news on changing the lights to regulate traffic more efficiently? The situation seems to be getting worse, not better. Now the lights change as if on a timer, instead of when cars are actually waiting to proceed. This weekend I witnessed a person run the light by making a left turn from the right turn lane while the rest of us waited for the light to change (without any traffic coming the other way). This could be avoided by having the lights blink red as a 4-way stop. Please help us get where we're going safely and efficiently!

The light seems to be worse, staying red even when no cars are approaching in cross traffic. Having driven through the intersection at all hours of the day, I've never seen traffic that warrants more than a 4-way stop anytime. Please make our lives easier until traffic warrants a solid red light!

Monday I called 703.746.4747 (Alexandria T&ES) and referenced my ticket number in a voicemail. Tuesday, Jim Neurohr called me and was incredibly courteous and helpful.

Here's a summary of the results: The lights were adjusted during flooding on Hwy 1 a while back, when much more traffic than usual was routed down Potomac Ave. The lights were not adjusted back after the reroute ended. Jim's technicians have readjusted the timers and the traffic cams, and we should notice a difference TODAY. (Hooray!)

Next Monday, I'll give Bob Garbacz a call (when he's back in the office) and see if we can get the lights to blink red at night when traffic is sooooo light...
