Deskripsyon

This is the most heavily used park in the city, and the only off-leash park. In the winter, the usable hours of this park are limited to daylight hours (before 6pm, between November and May). During the summer, the park is regularly busy until 9pm. Not everyone can get their dog out for a run before 6pm. We need lights in this park.

I certainly appreciate the situation at the dog park, the problem we are faced with involves the cost to install lighting. Currently I don''t believe there is a power source even at Gilkison, so the power supply will have to be brought down the road and then a service set up into the park. The cost will be very expensive, not impossible to do, we we have to determine whether the cost is justified.

What would be estimated cost be for lights that required you to run power to park?

The estimated cost would depend upon the lighting system. One option might be solar lighting, the initial cost is high but the need for electrical connections is eliminated. As for actual costing to install direct power, I would have to request for quotations from an expert as there are many factors to consider.

maybe if we sign up for SeeClickFix updates all of the dogpark users and folks on the dogpark facebook page, as well as the elected officials, we can create critical mass to have this issue brought forward at the next budget

lights are not an issue in the summer months but the lack of maintenace is. With only general park maintenance budget to draw on the upkeep is spotty at best. Its like building an icerink and not budgeting for a zamboni. I think this is a park our City intends to fail.
