Duck poop causes mesothelioma. Pembroke Pines really needs to address this.

@Mayor Mayor Frank, What does "Thank You" mean? Will someone be looking into this matter? Things are only getting worse with the rate these animals are breeding.

Let's find a way to relocate instead of kill

Relocation is illegal per Florida Statute 379.231 and federal regulations 50 CFR 21.25(b)(8)(i). The rules built around these animals makes it very difficult to legally handle this matter without euthanasia or large sums of money. Currently the best no kill option is to hire a trapper at $40-100 PER duck. This would cost roughly $800-2500 conservatively, but perhaps bulk pricing could be worked out at this volume of animal.

Another option would be for concerned citizens like yourself to adopt these ducks. This would be completely legal, as no permit or special training is required to keep muscovy ducks in Florida. The only requirement is that the ducks be contained, and not able to mingle with local wildlife.

I have taken a picture of a small portion of the animals available for adoption. We would like to see them adopted as a group before they are euthanized due to lack of funding or support from local government officials.

So just to update everyone, This is happening almost daily. I consider it a good day when there are less than a dozen separate piles of feces I have to dodge. Since there is nothing anyone can do about it my only option is the removal of the offending animal. Time has run out.

I got lucky and got to skip a day before this happened....again.

If a service request description is required for any action to be taken, they why is it not a mandatory field when an issue is reported?

Also the fact that only one official bothered to comment on this issue, with a "Thank You" shows the level of commitment the city has to issues going. This point is only to be driven home by the fact that issues left unresolved are marked "closed" when ignored long enough by officials.

Maybe someone needs to open a ticket to fix the SeeClickFix system.

This issue has been resolved and there are no ducks remaining in the area.

The Pembroke Pines IT department is acting like a call center - helpdesk for seeclickfix.com postings concerning the city of Pembroke Pines now? How about the commissioners and city manager go back to having city department officials be responsible for monitoring the items posted under their control and delegating to their staff to investigate and follow up internally and to the public. Make this part of their official duties which can impact their pay and retention and I am sure there won't be a need to dump busy work on the IT department. Shouldn't treat city taxpayers and voters reporting issues as if they are calling an oversees sweatshop call center.
