It surely is a true stat of affairs in this place we all call home. People need to realize that when you vote you are helping ensure the proper person is chosen, not voting is allowing corrupt individuals into office.

I believe a young fellow by the name of Mr. Salmond ran last year, correct? Almost beating out Mr. Scarrow. This year, there is no doubt Mr. Scarrow will be out of office. However he is not the only one we should be caring about. There is lots of people in office that do absolutely nothing for this town and get paid substantially too much to do it.

Why is this city so overgrown with problems? Both Saskatoon, and Regina are bigger cities, and when I travel there I feel MUCH safer than I do here. Now I know each city has it's own problems, but everyone else seems to be under a controllable manner. I went to Edmonton earlier this month - didn't want to come back to pa AT ALL. I don't blame people for not wanting to live here. I personally don't want to either.

Thank you PAGuy for having the balls to bring this topic up. Perhaps someone should forward a copy to the mayors office? Dosesn't mater much -he isn't going to be around much longer...

I agree with you completley, it is time for the reactive municipal government be replaced, with a new pro-active municipal government. Scarrow and his cronies are just collecting a handout for doing nothing whatsoever at the expense of us taxpayers. Enough is enough.

One of the problems with Mr. Scarrow is the fact that he is in what they call the "old boys club" the people that he caters to, the people that he protects, and the people he pleases are not your every day tax payers but your buisness owners, your police chief, your mr. somebodys in the city. Its simple things that need answers like how when you drive on 2nd ave west can you say good job men you repaved the road and left the worst intersection intown untouched. Or the mounds and mounds of concrete that they put in the most random and unhelpful places in town. The snow removal, we had a record snow fall last year and there were ruts 4-6 inches deep on our main roads like 15th, its not just every day people who drive them but our emergency vehicles. The crime stats, housing crime goes up but lets be proud traffic violations have gone down, wow that makes me feel safer to walk down town knowing that joe smith was stopped for riding with out a seatbelt and and john doe is out robbing my neighbors. Or the city council that gets their Ipads because it is a money saver then using pens and papers. Really at $900 a pop for what 10 -14 of them its cheaper and more helpful. Ok you ran with out them for how many years you can go another few. I wonder if Prince Albert needs some new blood some new faith that this city could be better but we need is for our police chief and mayor sleeping with buisness partners for their own gains and worrying about what is better for this city and our people.

I believe the root of a lot of our problems rest in the hands of our federal government as well. Our "Justice System" is the biggest joke ever, it's comparable to being sent to the corner for 10 minutes when you've been bad. The Mayor also can't change the social assistance program, which needs FAR stricter SCREENING and DRUG TESTING, keeping track of alcohol consumption, and maybe should implement at TIME LIMIT to be on it, unless you do have "special circumstances", but if you've been on it for so long, you should start earning it by being forced to clock so many hours of community service a month. Make them pick garbage, plant flowers etc.
But I agree that whoever is running this town is not doing their job.

You are so right. While they are congratulating themselves and suggesting that PA is so affordable, they send tax assessors door to door to ensure that you are paying your "fair share" [quote from citypa web site]. And by "fair share", they mean that you better not have done anything to improve your property and your neighborhood or your going to have to pay. And pay not just once for the work you did building a nice fence or deck, supporting local business and paying GST/PST while doing so. The city wants you to pay your "fair share" every year thereafter when you pay your municipal taxes. And why shouldn't you have to pay? You get to enjoy that deck every year after all. Just think of all the people with rickety fences, missing windows and no deck. They pay their fair share by driving down your property value if you happen to be on their block.

This city council is completely out of touch when they want to punish responsible home owners for improving their property and rewarding the slum owners (and those who rent them out). And if you owned a blighted house, why would you improve your property? Especially when there are others paying their "fair share"on your behalf. It's a guarantee that you will never have to. So yeah, PA is an affordable place to live, just so long as you are not one of the ones paying their "fair share". As Official City Tax Policy we attract people looking for a cheap place to live and discourage the "fair share" crowd. How is that working out for us??

with a 5000.00 tax funded chair, id sit on my hands all day too. who is our mayor? I havent heard anything from him in a long time.

RE the original comment: couldn't have said it better myself. Remember what a bunch of mediocre self-serving politicians this lot is when the civic election arrives, and replace them. We couldn't do worse.

Our current Mayor is Jim Scarrow. I was taking a look at the last ballot count for the municipal election and I was blown away to see that most of the City council won their chairs by acclamation. How disappointing is it when people are to afraid to take part in this process, and not to mention the voter turnout was horrible. It's time to start spreading the message that people need to get out of their houses and vote next time!

all I can say is....if there is any other viable option in the next election (preferably younger, more energetic, accually cares about the citys residents more than dismataling other city councillers) these clowns can stick they're heads between they're legs and kiss they're butts good-bye...

can they make any decisions? We STILL dont have any "welcome" signs...have something! Spray paint a piece of plywood if you have too, who cares what it says as a slogan, what does it really matter? when are they going to put it up, the winter?

absolutely rediculous way of running a city...its a good thing we pay the city manager a good wage, because it is the only reason we are still functioning...
