The Mount Vernon use of SeeClickFix requires that problems fit into a narrow set of categories. Street paving problems other than potholes don't fit in any category. Most public safety matters don't fit in any category. Problems in the City's way of using SeeClickFix don't fit in any category. "Community" postings such as this are considered "unaffiliated", which seems to mean they are not considered the responsibility of any jurisdiction.

The app is for HOUSING. Call city hall if you have issues

Untrue. It is NOT just for housing. For example, some DPW matters are handled by the app. Anyway I see no reason for limiting it to just housing and certain DPW matters.

The press release the city sent out said the main functionality is for HOUSING. That’s why a majority of the caterfories are for housing and building

But a large number of the complaints are about Public Works: potholes, traffic lights, garbage pickups, fallen trees. Mt. Vernon's problems are not limited to Housing, nor even to Housing and Public Works matters.

For now the City could at least add a category for "Other" specific complaints. Trying to limit this app to managing just a narrow set of systematically defined categories is wasting opportunities to make this city better.

City apparently only interested in making it easy to report some problems, not the full range of specific problems that afflict its citizens. Whatever categories of problems are listed, there needs to be a category for 'other' problems. Not everybody can put their problem in the right category, especially if the city doesn't have major items listed.
